In a span of two days our crew biked to sites in New York City, which use tropical hardwoods for benches, boardwalks, decking, ferry docks and subway track ties. Although Mayor Bloomberg has called “tropical deforestation an ecological calamity”, the city remains the largest consumer of tropical hardwoods in North America. The video was edited in time to broadcast online for Earth Week 2010.
The New York Times featured the video in their City Room blog.
NEW YORK CITY – Just finished this video for an Earthjusticecampaign geared to protect rural children from pesticides.
Each year, nearly one billion pounds of pesticides are sprayed into fields and orchards around the country. As the families who live nearby can tell you, those pesticides don’t always stay in the fields and orchards.
Most of the footage was shot on flipCams and the music was written and donated by the very awesome Dougie Bowne.
I edited this piece directed by award winning documentarian Barbara Green (Tashi Jong: A Traditional Tibetan Community in Exile). The short video depicts the Oaxacan youth’s effort to continue creating traditional indigenous arts in the face of social and economic uncertainty. It was produced by the non-profit organization Friends of Oaxacan Folk Art to help raise an awareness about the artistic heritage and talent that exist in contemporary Oaxaca, Mexico.
NEW YORK CITY – I worked on the graphics for this documentary that tells the “story behind a project involving the U.S. government (USAID), the mass media, and ex-gang members in Guatemala. The story follows the testimonials of several ex-gang members who participated in a TV reality show broadcast in Guatemala to indicate to businessmen that it was possible to transform ex gang members into “young business entrepreneurs.”"
KUNA YALA, Panama – While working on a multi-media collaboration with the Kuna Indians of Panama. Our crew visited the two recently flooded villages of Gangandi and Mandiyala, and produced this clip as part of a successful fund-raising event to help aid their recovery.
NEW YORK CITY – I was one of the editors for this piece done at Trg-Ragamuffin. It was part of the behind the scenes extras for Beyonce’s B-Day Anthology Album DVD.
TUCSON, Arizona – This is a piece I worked on with Erl and Christian from Pan Left Productions. It was a promo video for and upcoming AFTA demonstration.
